Amsterdam Art Galleries Tour: One & Two-Day 

Day One:  Local pick-up & travel to Dover. Ferry to Calais. Onward travel to your accommodation in Paris (3* B&B for two nights). Check-in & evening free. (Note:  This itinerary can be adapted for groups wishing to travel via P&O North Sea Ferries sailing overnight from Hull. Please ask our staff for details).

Day Two:  V
isit the Rijksmuseum (morning) & Van Gogh Museum (afternoon):
  • The Rijksmuseum:  The Collections reflect a broad range of Dutch Art & History from the Middle Ages to 1900 as well as works from other European countries. The Golden Age masterpieces by Rembrandt, Vermeer, Hals, Steen & Bol are undoubted highlights.
  • There are more than 8,000 objects on display including ceramics, silverware, furniture, textiles & costumes & an Asian Collection in a new pavilion.
  • Van Gogh Museum:  Largest collection of the artist's work in the world with more than 200 paintings including The Potato Eaters, Sunflowers, Almond Blossom & Wheatfield with Crows as well as a number of still life pieces, landscapes & self-portraits.
  • Works by a number of Van Gogh's contemporaries including Toulouse-Lautrec, Pissarro & Gauguin are also displayed.
Day Three: A range of activities are available for this day. You could visit the  Stedelijk Museum & then see some of the sights or visit the Rembrandthuis. Discuss your options with our staff.   
  • Stedelijk Museum:  Modern & contemporary art with works by Van Gogh, Cézanne, Matisse, Picasso, Chagall, Mondrian & Kandinsky & later 20th century artists such as Warhol, Lichtenstein & de Kooning.
  • The refreshment kiosk is worth seeing with murals by Karel Appel, a founder member of the CoBrA movement in the 1940s. The Stedelijk has also built up a significant collection of video art of more than 900 pieces since the 1970s.
  • Sight-seeing:  Amsterdam offers a number of options including a visit to Dam Square & the surrounding Nine Streets, the Anne Frank House, fleamarkets such as the Noordemarkt, the Bloemenmarkt, a canal cruise or a visit to the National Maritime Museum. 
Day Four:  Depart after breakfast for Calais & ferry crossing to Dover. Return to drop-off point(s). A hypermarket visit can be included en-route, time permitting (not Sundays).
