Paris Christmas Markets: Suggested Four-Day Itinerary
Day One (Outward): Local pick-up
to Dover. Ferry to Calais. Onward travel to your accommodation in Paris (3* B&B for two nights). Check-in & evening free.
Day Two (Paris): A day in Paris to explore its iconic landmarks, spend time at the Christmas Market on the Champs Elysées & enjoy the Christmas lights in the evening when 125 of the city's squares are lit up by thousands of illuminations accompanied by decorations & Christmas trees. Visits to:
Arc de Triomphe: Napoleon's triumphal arch & site of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Notre Dame de Paris: Early Gothic cathedral built between 1163 & 1250. At Christmas there is also an arts & crafts market next to the cathedral.
Les Invalides: Built for the care of impoverished war veterans; Napoleon's tomb is here.
You could also include a sight-seeing tour taking in the Place de la Concorde, the Louvre, Musée d'Orsay, Eiffel Tower & Pont Alexandre III.
Champs Elysées Christmas Market: The market stretches along the Champs Elysées as far as the Place de la Concorde, there are over 200 chalets offering a range of Christmas gifts & regional culinary delicacies. The boulevard is lit by more than 400 Christmas trees, decorations & illuminations. There is also a Craftsmen's Village with demonstrations of their work & original gifts.
Depending on how long you wish to stay at the market, your tour could also include a evening river cruise on the Seine.
Day Three (Paris):
Ascend either the Eiffel or Montparnasse Tower, visit one of Paris' many art galleries or explore one of several other markets, for instance, the markets held at the Trocadero or La Défense (the latter is actually bigger than the Champs Elysées market).
Day Four (Return): Depart for Calais & ferry crossing to Dover. Return to your local drop-off point(s).
